Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a house by using a combined gross family earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family earnings would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and here need not submit any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the proper Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or plan to research at 2025 nsfas application a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
